Afghanistan

Worm medicine for the kids

The remnants of the RPG

Left: The aid station/hooch go hit with an RPG and made a hole in our roof (yeah, I had just run inside when it hit). It is a tough building.

Below: Me in my shalwar chamise/man jammies.

See how the garden grows.

A very large spider in my hooch. I caught some rats and mice in my hooch as well.

The afghan commander's family milk cow needed a few stitches.

From on of our lookouts on patrol

On patrol

the local village

The kids hand prints on the side of their madrassa-muslim school

Me and one of the locals

The beginnings of my garden. I made my own minature terrace to the right.

My hooch at the back of the aid station

Some goat and naan bread at the local afghan security commanders hooch (army talk for where he lived on base) with my commander.

Translation: take two

Before passing out some humanitarian aid to the locals.

From the 'eagles nest' on top of our command post.

Driving a few from the top of outpost 'stinky' aka the latrine. This was the last stop before flying to my aid station farther up the river.

Here are a few pictures from my Afghanistan deployment. There are some of me giving worm medicine to one of many kids from the nearby village, one from a patrol above the base with the village in the background, me in a local get up called a shalwar chamise (not sure if I spelled that correctly) that we all called man jammies, and a few miscellaneous of my aid station and garden I planted and me sewing up the base milk cow (that tried to eat my garden many times-thats gratitude...). If we post these successfully there may be some wedding and Bali pictures following.
